Guardamar de la Safor completes a Participatory Diagnosis for more efficient and forthcoming waste management.
The City Council of Guardamar de la Safor successfully completed its Participatory Diagnosis project on the management and good practices of urban and coastal waste in the municipality. The primary objective was to develop a complete analysis that would allow to know and analyze the knowledge of the population on the management of generated waste, and that would serve as a reference for developing specific policies and programs in the field of Circular Economy.
During the process, the municipality delved into participation mechanisms to consolidate the democratic culture, carrying out extensive active listening to citizens. Special focus was placed on understanding the perception of the neighborhood on the new organic waste fraction and the problems in the coastal area were analyzed. To collect this information, participation surveys were carried out both online and at street level in the urban environment, and an itinerant day on the coast during the summer season.
All suggestions and proposals provided by citizens were integrated into a Participatory Diagnostic Report. This final document provided a global vision, adapted to the real needs of the municipality, and served as a basis for inclusive decision-making in the future waste collection and management system. In this way, Guardamar de la Safor demonstrated its commitment to the 2030 Agenda, advancing in the regulatory and social demands for a more sustainable development.
